Oil Pipe Inspection

In this application we were asked to supply inspection systems which would check heavy duty undersea oil pipes for surface damage. The systems had to inspect 360 degrees around the pipe and match the speed of throughput which was infinitely variable.

This application was different to most that we undertake in that it was destined for the heavy engineering industry and as such had to be designed and manufactured to suit the environment into which it was to be located.

In this project, the customer required inspection systems to be fitted to eight production lines. All of the systems were essentially performing the same functions but the finish of the pipes was completely different at each station.
In order to make the project economically viable, the challenge was therefore to find a solution which would work across all of these lines.
